Text: Psalm 85: 5-7
“Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.”
“A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth. O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.”
Introduction: For the body of Christ, which is the Church of God to experience revival, revival has to start from an individual.
What Is Revival?
Revival means divine visitation to a people which brings them from a state of spiritual sympathy to a renewed and more active attention to righteousness; a powerful and widespread outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon a people, God’s visitation that brings changes in the spiritual and moral climate of a community. That is to say, an individual bringing back his spirirtual life and receiving new strength for the Master’s service.
“And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.”
“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:”
Conclusion: Consider who you were in the Lord when you started and measure it with where you are now, do you not think you need fresh oil in your lamp?
1. Praise the Lord God of Revival
2. Father, remove the ashes that have gathered around my fire and give me fresh oil for my lamp to burn bright again. Father, revive me.
3. Pray for your nation for revival of holiness and the fear of God.
4. Pray for Daddy G O and his family.
