Hosea 10:12: “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”
2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
INTRODUCTION: “Break up your fallow ground” is the heart preparation for revival. Before you can, therefore, pray for revival, your heart must be humble and contrite before God. 2 Chronicle 34:1-2, 27, Isaiah 6:5-8.
CONDITIONS FOR ANSWERS TO REVIVAL PRAYER
1. Idols must not be allowed in our heart.
Ezekiel 14:3: “Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?”
2. All unforgiving spirits must be expunged. Matthew 18:21-35
3. Strained relationship must be amended.
1 Peter 3:7: “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”
4. Impure motives must be dealt with.
James 4:2: “Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.”
5. All unconfessed sins and pending restitutions must be dealt with.
Proverbs 28:13: “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
CONCLUSION: To expect revival, we must draw near to God with a true heart in full assurance of faith having our hearts cleansed from an evil conscience.
Hebrew 10:22: “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”
