I see you everywhere
Your glory fills the air
The One who watches me
I put my confidence in you
You are wonderful
You are worthy Oh Lord
You are wonderful
You are worthy Oh Lord
2 Cor 4:8-9
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
2 Cor 4:16-18a
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen…
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Good morning brethren. It’s a pleasure to share with us the Word of God and to lead us in a few prayers. Without doubt, it is clear that we are going through unprecedented times in our lives and these challenges can sometimes be very depressing and overwhelming. No wonder that Apostle Paul strongly advised us not to despair.
What does it mean to despair?
The Online Dictionary defines:
Despair: as the complete loss or absence of hope, a state of dejection, discouragement, unhappiness, etc
It goes further to state that:
To despair: is to lose or be without hope, to give up, to lose heart, to be discouraged, to be demoralized, to resign oneself, to quit, to surrender, to throw in the towel, to be downcast, etc
May this never be our portion in Jesus name, amen.
Instead of despair, we are to have “The Indomitable Spirit”
This is that inner spirit that is impossible to subdue or defeat, unconquerable, unbeatable, unshakable, determined and fearless
Hannah, is a worthy example for us in the Bible
1 Sam 1:5-20
5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.
6 And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.
7 And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
8 Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?
9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.
10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.
11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.
13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.
14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.
15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.
16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.
17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
18 And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.
19 And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.
20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.
Beloved, don’t lose hope. Don’t despair. Don’t give up. For God has not given up on you. There is nothing impossible for our God to do. Things only look impossible with men. I pray for you and for myself, that we will all sing our songs of victory like Hannah if we don’t give up.
Before we pray this morning, I will like to give opportunity to anyone among us who wants to give his/her to Christ for the very first time or wants to rededicate his/her life to Christ if your love for Christ has waxed cold. We all know our individual situations. A life without Christ, beloved, is a life of crisis and despair. The indomitable spirit we talked about is only possible through Jesus Christ.
If you want to live above despair and have the indomitable spirit, you need to surrender or rededicate your life to Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless you as you do so today in Jesus name, amen.
We will be using 1 Sam 2:1-2,6-10 to pray this morning.
1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
6 The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.
7 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he hath set the world upon them.
9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
Father, I thank you for the gift of life
Father, change my story, let me sing my song of joy
Father, give me a testimony that will embarrass and silence my enemies
Father, every good thing that has died in my life, give them new life right now
Father, open my eyes to see opportunities, teach me how to prosper from the opportunities around me, connect me to my destiny helpers Lord and give me the power to make wealth
Father, enlarge my coast
Father, showcase me, lift me up, take me to where I never imagined I could reach
Father, keep me safe everywhere I go, let me not fall, let me not stumble, let me not be a victim of blood thirsty demons; let me not be a victim of COVID 19; order my steps oh God
Father, everyone and everything working against me, my progress, my success, my promotion, my celebration, my ministry, my destiny, send your thunder and break them into pieces
Father, send help to our nation. Deliver us from the hands of wicked and clueless leaders.
Father put a speedy end to this Civid 19 global pandemic. Give us a solution to this problem Lord.
